After selecting a kingdom, the game will ask you to choose one of three heroes. The choices you are given are Avalon, Avril and Rufio. Each hero has their pros and cons and all three are balanced so there is no wrong choice here. You will also receive another one of the three a few minutes into playing the game so choosing only prevents you from having one of the three heroes.
